I’m finally posting the New York Fashion Week photos I promised last week in my Anna Wintour post. While all the hooplah is surrounding the spring 2014 presentations, I’m reminiscing about my time at the fall 2013 presentations in February. While six months ago seems like an eternity, there’s no better time to take a walk down memory lane. Because someday when my memory fails me, I might not recall who Cara Delevingne is or how to pronounce Nonoo.
ACADEMY OF ART
What runway feet look like close up.
This is all work from graduating students of the Academy of Art. Pretty amazing.
I would love to wear this. Maybe I could make it work with some brocade pants and a party dress. Maybe?
Little gemstones parading down the runway. Also, don’t fashion show attendees (well, the ones not in the front row anyway) look just like normal people?
This is backstage after the show. The clothes were being bagged up.
And there is a blurry photo of Monique herself.
This girl looks like Debbie Harry of Blondie.
I was standing room only at Rebecca Minkoff, so this is the best photo I have. Same with Herve Leger. My photos from that show are crap. Both shows were absolute mad houses.
CHARLOTTE RONSON – BACKSTAGE
Charlotte Ros…Shit. Someone get me a new sign!
This model’s skin is ridic.
NICOLE MILLER – BACKSTAGE
Is this the naughty or nice list?
I hope her butter LONDON mani dried completely before she took those off (these are the things I think about).
Chloe Norgaard getting her hair did backstage at Nicole Miller. Here, her hair is highlighter yellow and orange. This current runway season, it’s green, which I actually really like.
LIBERTINE – BACKSTAGE
Kerastase team leader Akemi Tamaribuchi doing her thang.
A model with her butter LONDON mani and some Starbies.
Boys will be boys.
Gotta show some love to the beauty artists that hustle so hard to get the models ready. This is the Kerastase team taking a group photo backstage at Libertine.
DKNY STREET SHOW
I don’t know what to call this. We didn’t have tickets to the DKNY show but went anyway–luckily for us they staged a sidewalk preview and re-routed some of the models outside during the show. Thanks DKNY!
Cara freaking Delavingne. She was hollering like a spectre down the sidewalk. Such a crazy ball of energy. Love her.
Can I please have that top? It’s perfect.
I see you Miss Jay!
I’m including this photo as a public service announcement. DO NOT bring your iPad to a fashion show to take photos. Or a wedding. Or any event with aisles or views to block. You look like an idiot and it ruins photos (not this one though, it was already shitty to begin with).
I find the blur to be a more accurate representation of my memories.
I’m glad somebody else is on the greasy hair bandwagon besides me.
I love this series. The faces on these models are priceless. Also I wonder if any of them are even 21. Had to say it.
It’s a real live Ken doll!
This skirt might already by sold out.
RACHEL ZOE – BACKSTAGE
If you’re looking for a new beauty look this fall, I highly suggest this one. Muted, bright eyes and dark berry stained lips.
Ciao! If you have any questions about my experience, I’d love to chat! Seriously!
Photos taken by me, Alexis Sargent while working for JENESEQUA Magazine. Photos are unedited, with the exception of making the Monique Lhuillier photo black and white.
