Before I go any further, I never officially announced that we’re having a BOY! We found out 9 weeks ago, which tells you how much of a slacker I am. I take that back. More likely I’m way too laid-back. We are so excited for our little guy to get here in 11 or so weeks (due date is August 22), but we haven’t started shopping for him yet (besides a few gifts from family here and there), haven’t started the nursery, and little guy has no name. However, I do have a plan. I always have a plan. I organize all my to-dos on my Trello project board, I’ve been reading up on childbirth, researching the best and safest products for baby like mattresses that don’t contain flame retardant chemicals, and I realize that we’ll learn everything else we need to know along the way. I have a luxury that parents before me never had… Google and YouTube.
MY MATERNITY STYLE
I confess, I’ve spent probably less than $50 on pregnancy-related gear. My logic is, I’ll only be wearing this stuff for a short period of time, so why not save the money for the things I’ll be wearing a lot longer. But if I’ve spent so little, how am I able to get dressed in the morning? Two words: thrift shops. Apart from a few basics, like this $20 dress from Old Navy, I look for loose dresses (preferably in cotton) that I can throw on and go. I also am repurposing things from my pre-prego wardrobe like roomy boyfriend jeans (using the rubber-band-through-the-button-hole-trick), dresses, and skirts with elastic and adjustable waists, crop tops, and any shirts that still fit.
Wearing: My trusty Vince cropped leather moto jacket / Old Navy maternity maxi dress / thrifted pink Anne Klein shoulder bag / tan Barneys New York Co Op t-strap sandals / SEE Eyewear tortoise glasses.
Black is truly a camouflaging color.
